Hike the trails

The Marathon County Solid Waste property is home to many trail systems for public use. Use the outdoor site as a place to hike, snowshoe, or bike as you learn about nature.

  • 51 eastern bluebird nest boxes can be found along the trails

  • Harvest native plants that can be transplanted to make your own native landscapes around the school.

We are so much more than just a landfill!

The best way to learn about what we do is to come and see it for yourself. A tour could provide you with up-close looks at:

  • Open landfill site

    • See first-hand how materials we all dispose of get handled, and ask questions directly to the experts

  • Recycling, waste reduction, and reuse efforts

  • Hazardous household materials collection

  • Miles of trails, native plant restoration, abundant wildlife, and bluebird nesting boxes
